How To Behave like an "ANGEL" at Holy Angels
THESE GUIDELINES APPLY TO EVERYONE
NO MATTER WHAT PART OF THE CHURCH YOU MAY BE IN
(CRY ROOM, CHURCH ENTRANCE, BATHROOM, SACRISTY)
1. The idea of "Sunday best" should be honored; church goers of all ages should dress conservatively.
2. Turn off cell phones, pagers. MP3 players and all other electronic devices before entering the church building.
3. Arrive at least 10 minutes before Mass begins. This helps reduce distractions and provides time to get settled.
Upon entering the church bless yourself with Holy Water, and as a sign of respect for the Blessed
Sacrament, genuflect before taking your seat.
4. The Liturgy (Mass) is not a time to socialize with friends. Sit quietly or pray..
5. Respect for the Eurcharist demands that we kneel on our knees without leaning back on the pew. Be careful not
to drop or bang the kneelers. If unable to kneel for whatever reason it is appropriate to sit.
6. Never chew gum or eat candy especially when taking the Host.
7. Participate in the song service and responses to the Mass.
8. No talking, whispering, giggling or cutting up during prayer or preaching.
9. Leave all "busy" items at home for example crayons, drawing pencils, puzzles, and toys.
10. Parents do not let your child draw, mark, or destroy the Missalettes or song books
11. Parents should sit with their children unless other wise specified. Example Wednesday night services.
Pastor likes for all children to sit in the front pews.
12. Eating should be done at home and not during service.
13. Never let your child get up and leave during service.
14. Receive the Holy Eucharist with reverence (no talking or saying hello to friends), bow slightly and respond "Amen".
15. The final part of Mass is singing a closing hymn. Leaving before the hymn ends is inappropriate.
16. Genuflect toward the altar before leaving the pew or at the end of the pew.
We are guests in the Lord's house and should be respectful of that and be on our best behavior at ALL times. We should also be respectful of others and ourselves.
